2015 Colonnade

Red fruits burst from the glass, raspberries of all sorts, fresh and preserved as well as strawberry-rhubarb pie. Fresh blueberries lurk in the background. The fruits are balanced by a deep earthiness with notes of freshly fallen leaves on a warm forest floor and cut green tobacco leaves. Grenache brings a toasty graham cracker element and the Syrah and Mourvedre drop heavy dark notes of molasses, tar and cocoa powder. This wine will benefit from being served cool and decanted. On the light bodied side for a GSM (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre) blend, the supple tannins, balanced alcohol and refreshing acidity would be a delicious companion to summer fare like hearty vegetable and grain salads and grilled lighter meats.
