Mixed Red Bundle - Half Case
A sampling of our favorite estate-grown wines. This mixed case includes one full-sized (750ml) bottles of each of the following wines:
2015 Vineyard Rouge ($28): Just ripe blackberry, blueberries, and tart cranberry on the nose and palate. This is a dry, brooding, complex wine with serious aging potential. Singed thyme and sage complement an earth driven wild nature to the wine. Nutmeg and cedary oak are present and well integrated into the long finish. The tannins are structured and soften well with a decant. This is a perfect marriage with a marbled cut of steak, pork, or lamb.
2015 Rockwood Rouge ($33): Deep ruby in color with a touch of garnet on the rim. This wine shows its fruit forwardness with rainier cherry, dried red currants, and a touch of açai berry. It elegantly opens up with a secondary dried nature to the fruits. Provencal herbs, sweet tobacco, and a hint of vanilla linger with a light yet soft mouthfeel.
2018 Grenache ($34): Bright and crisp, just-ripened, red raspberries, fresh rhubarb, with macerated cranberry and strawberry fruit tones. Pink lilies and carnations define the floral nose with notes of a sage and an underbrush-like herbal quality. Pink peppercorn and a kiss of oak add a nutmeg flavor, lengthening the finish. This fruit came from a higher elevation on the ranch which contributes to the prevailing freshness that shines throughout.
2018 Sangiovese ($36): This estate-grown wine is a terrific example of a classic varietal showcased in our vineyards. Stewed red and black cherries, strawberry, and red licorice are present with a hint of roasted tomato and soy like complexity. An herbal, dried thyme and bay leaf aroma drives the palate well. This features light and bright pink and red peony florals that are completely in balance with the fruit and herbaceous qualities.
2018 La Linterna ($32): Mourvèdre dominant with remnants of Grenache. A wine that transcends from the new world to the old. Tart and dried red fruits, such as red currant, deep raspberry, and a touch of peach pit on the nose and palate. Rosewater and red carnations are followed by a cured prosciutto presence. An earthy note, similar to pipe tobacco and fall leaves, lingers on the palate. This is an absolute gem to drink now or age.
2018 Syrah ($40): A beautifully polished wine. This stunning Syrah has a deep concentration and violet color. Crushed, ripe blueberries and blackberries dominate the nose and palate, with a touch of fresh fig notes. Secondary flavors of tapenade come to mind along with a medley of peppercorns and rosemary. There are sweet purple florals, reminiscent of fresh violets. A hint of new oak lends to a vanilla and baking spice element to the long finish.
